Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to audition/read music?

No! We welcome all.  Experience of reading music is definitely helpful as we sing mostly from sheet music, but we are supportive of people who want to learn and have members who learn by ear.

Are there any solo opportunities?

If you are an experienced, confident singer there are opportunities to sing solos during our concerts at the invitation of the Musical Director.

What sort of music will we sing?

Our repertoire is very diverse. We sing classical, pop, folk, gospel, music theatre…. We perform three concerts a year, and every two years collaborate with two other choirs and a professional orchestra to perform a major choral work.

I’ve never sung in a choir before!

Many of our members started this way and have flourished and can now even read music! We have a mixture of experienced singers and those who learn by ear. Every effort is made to help you get the most out of your time with our choir. The best thing to do is come along and have a go!

How much does it cost?

Our fees are currently £55 per term. This is payable on the first rehearsal. If you are coming to try us out your first session will be free of charge.
