Musical Director
Fru Chilvers
Fru has been Musical Director of Epping Forest Singers since 2014.
Since then, she's led us through a series of successful concerts, helped us to steadily increase our numbers and inspired us all with her passion for choral singing.
She studied singing at Trinity Laban Conservatoire and has enjoyed a solo career alongside her busy time leading local choirs! Fru loves working with younger people and has worked for ENO Baylis, The Unicorn Theatre and Spitalfields Festival on numerous education projects. She has recently been appointed Classical Vocal Tutor at Davenant School.
Fru strongly believes in teaching good singing technique to the choir and brings her experience as a professional singer to the rehearsal. Her high energy and her exciting ambitions certainly keep us all motivated!
Accompanist
Paul Chilvers
Paul has accompanied our choir since 2013 and we are so lucky to have him. He is a hugely talented pianist with decades of professional experience. Paul currently works at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire, where he accompanies singers in lessons, recitals, auditions and exams.
Ever modest, he would rather tell you stories of abject failures than glorious achievements, such as the time he played 'Walking in the Air' with Richard Stilgoe sat on the piano stool with him. His words for his rendition of this unebelievably easy piece; 'Unrecognisable'.
His good humour and excellent musicianship are cherished by us!
